Juniors serve up an epic week

EPIC fixtures at Banora Point Tennis Club were just some of the highlights coming out of a massive week in junior sport across the Tweed.

It was Banora Point Public School which reigned supreme in round one of the State Schools Tennis Knock-out, recording a hard-fought 5-3 win over Centaur Public.

“Banora have a particularly strong male component,” tennis coach Glen Maxted said. “The way they are playing they could well get to the finals.”

Banora is now set to face Terranora in the second round. (More Page 28)

Meanwhile semi-final spots were decided after an intense final round of Tweed District Softball competition at Piggabeen (Page 26).

Elsewhere the Nippers of Salt, Cudgen and Greenmount Surf Life Saving Clubs got together for a fun season-ender (Page 27).

There's also triathletes, netball, AFL, swimming, rugby, and the new junior rugby league tipping panel, with players from each of the local clubs (Page 27).
