Jury discharged after no verdict made in Ilic murder trial

THE jury deliberating on whether a Goodna man fatally stabbed his step-father in his own bed has retired hung.

Zarko Ilic was allegedly seen in his kitchen wielding two knives and threatening to kill himself moments before Ivan Martic was found with a blade protruding from his lifeless body.

Brisbane Supreme Court heard the pair had long-running animosity between them before the incident in September, 2009.

Ilic pleaded not guilty to murder.

A jury began their discussions about 10.45am on Tuesday and asked multiple questions, including about the evidence.

But, when they could not reach a verdict, on Thursday afternoon, they were discharged.
