Jury to deliver its verdict on violent New Years attack

A JURY is expected to decide tomorrow whether Dorrigo's Dallas Kahl should be jailed over a New Years Day attack which left a young Bellingen man with permanent brain damage.

Jake Brook, 19, was hospitalised with serious head injuries after he was allegedly punched by Kahl in the main street of Dorrigo on January 1, 2010.

Police allege the force of the blow caused Jake to fall and hit his head on the road.

Kahl, 30, has pleaded not guilty to recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.

Family members of the accused and alleged victim have been present in the Coffs Harbour District Court where final submissions were made and the jury was let out to consider its verdict tonight.

The case will return to court before retired Judge Anthony Garling tomorrow.
