Justice Crew brings family fun
DANCE group Justice Crew will offer an intimate, interactive, fun family night out during their performance at Twin Towns Services Club.
Member Samson Cosray Smith, who specialises in breakdance, said feedback from the Melbourne leg of the crew's Sexy and You Know It tour praised their family friendliness.
"It inspires us to keep going, because that's our market," Samson said.
"We like to get the whole family involved, and entertain everyone - not just teenagers."
The group's humble origins are "dancing proof" dreams can become reality.
Samson said he and a few others from the crew used to busk in the Sydney CBD just for their food and train ticket home to the western suburbs.
"Now we fly all over Australia, and everything's paid for," he said.
"It's pretty cool to see how people react to us; cool that they watch and respect what we do."
With their humble beginnings in mind, Justice Crew holds dance classes for underprivileged kids .
"That's where our hearts are at," Samson said.
And he has advice to dancers aspiring to reach the heights of the group that won Australia's Got Talent.
"It's just the dream; whatever you want to do, go for it, and stay around positive people ... kick out the negative."
In keeping with the group's inspirational story, the Twin Towns performance will maintain the tour's "superhero" theme.
"Everyone's got superhero powers," Samson said. "And we put that into our dance.
"Mine's super-strength - I get to throw the guys around."
It is appropriate considering he was named after the Bible hero who was granted supernatural strength by God in order to perform heroic acts such as slaying an entire army with only a donkey's jawbone.
Tickets to Justice Crew's first Tweed-Gold Coast performance on January 21 are available at the venue via www.twintowns.com.au or by calling 1800 014 014.
