Justine Elliot throws support behind CSG-free sign plan

RICHMOND MP Justine Elliot spoke in parliament this week to show her support for Tweed Shire Council's plans to implement "gasfield free" signs.

"I would like to commend the Tweed Shire Council and Mayor Barry Longland for their plan to install gasfield free signs at various locations throughout the Tweed Shire," Mrs Elliot said.

"They are encouraging community members to have their say online, and I have just voted yes online for this great initiative of the council's."

If supported by the community, the council will add panels displaying "gasfield free" to existing welcome signs around the Tweed Shire.

The council has so far received a massive response - but it's too early to say which side these responses mostly lean towards.

Tweed Mayor Barry Longland said it was no surprise that many members of the community had responded to the proposal.

"It's one of the biggest issues we've got to face, and I expect the community to get behind it."
