Juveniles arrested on serious charges after police pursuit

TWO juveniles were arrested yesterday afternoon after police spotted them having fun on a stolen motorbike.

About 2.20pm on Thursday the pair was spotted illegally cruising on Crystal Waters Dr, Tweed Heads.

Tweed Police Inspector Gary Cowan said officers followed the thieves and were in pursuit for 2km until they stopped on Limosa Rd where they were arrested and taken into custody.

The 15-year-old driver was charged with stealing a motor vehicle, break enter and steal and driving a motor dangerously.

"The rider will appear before the courts today," Mr Cowan said.

"This is a concern of police that children of such a young age would be involved in such a serious offence."

Mr Cowan said the offenders were putting not only police and the community at risk but also themselves.
