WALLABIES star Karmichael Hunt has faced court for the first time charged with drug possession, after allegedly being caught with cocaine in party hotspot Fortitude Valley on December 30.

The troubled 31-year-old is facing two charges of possession of a drug and one of contravening a direction or requirement from police.

The case was mentioned briefly this morning and adjourned for three weeks for his lawyer, Adam Magill, to examine the brief of evidence.

Hunt declined to comment outside court, but Mr Magill said he had been handed the evidence brief and would review it soon.

It comes after Hunt was one of several professional footballers to be caught up in a Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission investigation into a cocaine trafficking ring operating in the state's southeast.

He was fined in March 2015 after pleading guilty to four counts of possessing cocaine.
