K'cliff bottle shop robbed

POLICE are searching for a man who robbed a Kingscliff bottle shop this week armed with a knife.

Initial reports suggest a man entered the Cellarbrations store in Pearl St after 6.30pm on Monday and threatened the 26-year-old staff member, demanding money.

The staff member handed the man an undisclosed sum of cash before the offender fled from the store on foot.

Police statements described the man as being aged about 20 with a thin build, wearing black pants and a black hooded top.

He had his face obscured and his feet were bare.

Sergeant Stuart Crawford said investigations were continuing.

The incident joins a long list of violent crimes on the Tweed and Gold Coast in the past few months.

Tweed police Inspector Shane Diehm has urged people to come forward with information following the arrest of a man on Monday in relation to an armed robbery in Murwillumbah.

He said the arrest was a result of information received from members of the public.

Police urged anyone with information relevant to the Kingscliff robbery to contact Tweed Heads detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
