Kennedy works not quite finished

JUST when motorists using Kennedy Dr thought the pain of roadworks was over another section was going under the knife.

The upgrade of Kennedy Dr was only a week or two away from completion but the Tweed Shire Council would then start work on a water main on the eastern side of the Pacific Hwy.

The council was expecting traffic delays along Kennedy Dr throughout July and August.

"Council is preparing to start work on a new 450mm diameter trunk water main and associated reticulation water mains along the eastern section of Kennedy Dr from the Pacific Hwy to Boyds Bay Bridge," a spokesman said.

"The new 450mm diameter water main will ultimately replace the existing 300mm diameter water main that has reached the end of its design life."

Work will commence after the road work on Kennedy Dr (West) has been completed and opened to traffic.

Traffic disruptions will be expected for the duration of the project, and night works may be required so that these disruptions are kept to a minimum. Kennedy Dr will remain open to traffic, under manual traffic control, for the duration of the works.
