Key player on a high note in US
KYOGLE pop singer/songwriter Trysette Loosemore was recently announced as a finalist in three categories of the MusicOz Awards.
But it isn't just at home she's been winning over the music-industry types.
After a conversation about touring the United States, both Trysette and her tour-mate Fiona Joy Hawkins found themselves signed to American label Global Journey.
"This label has been after her for a little while," Loosemore told The Northern Star.
"They are really passionate about what we both do and fell in love with our music."
The label has typically released ambience music but is looking to spread into the pop genre, which is where Loosemore comes in.
After growing up in Grafton, Loosemore headed to Lismore to study contemporary music at Southern Cross University where she graduated in 1994.
She has since travelled, landing back in Kyogle three years ago.
A classically trained pianist, she and Hawkins have been gigging together on their Two Grand I'm Yours tour, playing only venues with a grand piano.
Loosemore has released two albums, Here On In and Le Cafe Ancien, in the US since signing with Global Journey and is looking forward to giving them a push when they tour in July.
She'll also be recording her next album while she's there.
Before she heads off, Loosemore will be playing with Hawkins at the Star Court Theatre on June 9.
