Kidnapping case delayed against man accused of assault

THE kidnapping case against a Ballina man accused of attempting to strangle woman at a Coffs Harbour hotel and dumping her unconscious body in a store room, has been delayed for two weeks.

Jeremy Kym Leigh Waters appeared via video-link in the Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday charged with take/detain a person, assault and attempt to choke/strangle.

Police allege the 22-year-old was captured on CCTV footage last November leaving the Plantation Hotel's female toilets, dragging an unconscious woman by her clothes and leaving her in a store room.

He was later arrested at his Ballina home.

After being refused bail by a Lismore Magistrate on the grounds she held "significant concerns for the protection of the community", Waters applied for bail in the NSW Supreme Court.

The presiding judge adjourned the application in April so medical reports could be produced.

Waters was again refused bail late last month.

He was remanded in custody on Tuesday and will front court again on July 23.
