Killer virus hits Tweed elderly, one dead

A RESIDENT is dead and more than 50 people linked to a Tweed Heads nursing home are ill following a gastro outbreak that has forced the facility into lock-down.

The dead person, whose identity has not been released, was a resident at the Bangalor Retreat Nursing Home at Tweed Heads West.

Three people at the nursing home have been hospitalised with symptoms of the stomach virus. The resident's death has been refered to the state coroner and NSW health, said Minister for Ageing and Tweed MP Justine Elliot.
