King Bogan, proud of it, and Strayan of the Year

IF THERE is anyone prouder of living the bogan lifestyle than Brad Ensby, we'd love to meet them.

Inspired by Bogan Hunters and the idea of Australia Day pride, The Daily Examiner undertook a mission last week to find the Clarence Valley's "Strayan of the Year".

People proved to be shyer than we thought, but Brad is one Strayan who is proud as punch of being a true-blue Aussie.

Rocking a "massive" mullet, flanno and thongs on a daily basis, the 22-year-old rev-head from South Grafton has left little doubt that the title belongs to him.

"I like me cars, I like good burnouts and a good drink," he said.

"I've always been a fan of the mullet, me driver's licence for my red P's has a mullet on it in the photo."

His drink of choice is Bundaberg Rum, which can be found in his hand along with a Winfield Red on a typical weekend hanging with his mates.

"They all think that I'm a massive bogan," he said.

"I go riding dirt bikes a bit and muck around with cars and that."

Asked what his partner thinks, Brad said she wasn't a bogan herself but liked his mullet.

"It's probably one of the many things she likes about me," he said.

And with their seven-week-old daughter Scarlet taking centre stage at the moment, the Bundy has taken a back seat for a little while.

The proud father, who idolises Ned Kelly for his free-spirited outlaw lifestyle, said he found freedom in being a bogan.

"It's just feeling free in way you dress and your hairstyles; you don't really care what anyone else thinks about ya," he said.

"If you don't like it, look elsewhere mate, don't look in my direction."

The one thing Brad hasn't got is a tattoo of a Southern Cross or a Boxing Kangaroo, but he's working on it.

"I've got a tattoo on my arm, a big cross for me nan, and I'm gonna get (a Southern Cross) on my leg," he said.

"I reckon Australia is the best country."
