Kingscliff pair’s Valentine song hits No.3 on iTunes
KINGSCLIFF songwriter Casey Barnes has been celebrating Valentine's Day early with wife Michelle after their single Valentine received an unprecedented response.
The song has reached No.3 on the iTunes songwriter charts - and has been lingering in the top 10 since.
Likewise, the video clip has gone well beyond 20,000 views on Youtube since it was uploaded three weeks ago.
The clip is what inspired Channel Seven's Sunrise producers to invite the couple to perform live last weekend.
"It was absolutely awesome," Mr Barnes said.
"Channel Seven is super supportive of Australian musicians."
Mr Barnes said it's the third time he'd performed for the TV station - but the first time his wife has accompanied him.
"We've been performing together for years, but this is the first time we're actually released a song together," Mr Barnes said.
The Valentine video clip stars Barnes' daughter Charli alongside a friend.
He said the video conveys the innocent aspects of love - a fitting message with Valentine's Day just days away.
Mr Barnes will be a supporting act for Rick Price this Saturday at the Gold Coast Arts Centre from 7.30pm; visit theartscentregc.com.au for tickets.
Mr Barnes' new album is set to be released in the next few months.
