Kingscliff set to boom for big bowling tournament

A SWARM of Lawn bowls fanatics will descend on Kingscliff Bowls Club on the weekend of the 3-5th August for the Division Four Pennant state finals.

Event Coordinator Ian Taylor is chuffed to be hosting the finals and says it will be a great thing for the local economy.

"It is the ultimate in the New South Wales Pennants season, we will have 240 competitors and judges here over the weekend," Mr Taylor said.

Motels, Hotels and resorts from Murwillumbah to Twin Towns will be housing the huge bowling group who will travel from as far as Marimbula on the Deep South coast of New South Wales.

All accommodation organised for the event in Kingscliff is almost all booked out already according to Mr Taylor.

"Destination Tweed has helped us out organising accommodation, it is a big thing for the area," Mr Taylor said.

Ironically on the same weekend the club hosts the pennants finals, Mr Taylor and Kingscliff Bowls Club Green Keeper Michael Turner will travel to Marimbula to contest the Division One Pennants state titles.

Semi finals will be held on the Sunday afternoon and a big crowd of spectators is expected for the finals, starting at 9am on the Monday morning.
