Kingscliff’s Casey Barnes a finalist in song competition
KINGSCLIFF musician Casey Barnes is a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition.
He's also just released a new video for the nominated song, Flesh and Bone, which has attracted hundred of YouTube views in under a day.
"The response has been relatively positive," Mr Barnes said.
Flesh and Bone is the second single from Mr Barnes upcoming EP of the same name.
Earlier this year, his song Valentine received a huge response, including television appearances.
"To follow that I wanted something a bit more up-tempo that's really good to perform live, with a bit more energy to it," he said.
On making the International Songwriting Competition finals, Mr Barnes said he's pretty stoked.
"There was something like 19,000 entries," he said.
"To make it to the finals was really great."
Mr Barnes is one of fourteen finalists in the Country category this year.
He co-wrote Flesh and Bone alongside Australian expat singer/songwriter Rick Price.
"I grew up listening to all his hits on the radio," he said.
"He's extremely talented and we have a great working relationship."
