Man who died at Kirra was visiting coast for first time
A MAN who died after being pulled from the water at Kirra last week was a first-time visitor to the Gold Coast with his family.
The family travelled from Sydney and were staying at the Beach House Seaside Resort in Coolangatta.
Resort manager Gail O'Neill said it was a tragic incident and a sad day for everyone at the resort.
"Other family members (of the deceased man) came to the resort the night of the incident," Ms O'Neill said.
"They all left the next morning."
Ms O'Neil said the man had a medical emergency while playing with his children in the water.
"The children thought he was playing but people swimming nearby knew that something was wrong," Ms O'Neil said.
According to a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman, paramedics received a call at 1.47pm on Wednesday.
"The surf life savers were performing CPR," she said.
He was transported to Tweed Hospital where he died.
