Kirra gets pizza franchise

PETER “Pizza Capers” Irby is now catering to Kirra's pizza-passionate diners.

Mr Irby opened his Kirra store in December last year after operating Pizza Capers South Tweed for more than three years.

He said northern customers had been experiencing problems with delivery times from Tweed for his sought-after Italian delights, so opening a Kirra store was not a difficult decision.

“The new store has been pretty popular and it's been quite excellent considering the poor tourist season over the summer,” Mr Irby said.

He said he was surprised many of his Kirra customers were new, considering the Tweed store had been in operation for so long.

“The closest store to the north is in Palm Beach and my Tweed and Kirra stores are the only ones in the Tweed area, but there may be others in the future,” Mr Irby said.

His Kirra store is the 98th Pizza Capers franchise, the 18th on the Gold Coast, while Tweed was 31st and the first outside of Brisbane.

Mr Irby said the Pizza Capers franchise extended over Victoria, South Australia, Canberra and Singapore.

“It's fun and rewarding to see the customers' delight when they get budget-priced pizza in a location which says anything but budget.

“They also enjoy getting restaurant-quality food at take-away food prices.

“We get a great cross-section of locals and tourists”

He said prior to his decision to purchase a Pizza Capers franchise he was a spare parts wholesaler in Sydney.
