Kobie rips in GromSearch

TWEED Heads' Kobie Enright continued to shred at Diggers Beach yesterday as she searches for a prestigious Rip Curl GromSearch crown.

Pushing the limits and putting on an amazing show despite the deteriorating swell and tricky on-shore conditions, the 14-year-old carved her way into title contention, entering today's finals.

However, she will have to contend with Lennox Head's Stephanie Single and Manly's Sophie Bernard, both of whom mastered the swell in their heats.

Also impressing was Coolangatta carver Brodie Doyle, who locked in the 16-years girls' highest heat score yesterday with a solid 13 (out of a possible 20).

Doyle was closely followed by Port Macquarie's Emily Clapoudis with a 12.74.

Leading the way though was 11-year-old wonder-kid Holly-Sue Coffey (Crescent Head, NSW) whose 14.50 was the highest total heat score of the day.

“I had so much fun out there,” Coffey said. “It's really fun to surf against the other girls and have some great competition.”

The action resumes this morning.
