Lazy hazy crazy summer days

TODAY marks the first day of summer, a season that attracts a string of visitors to the Tweed and Southern Gold Coast.

Every year thousands of tourists travel to the area to enjoy summer by the sea.

Ashley Radbourne and his son Harry, of Brisbane, were just two of those enjoying the last day of spring sun on the beach at Rainbow Bay yesterday.

Mr Radbourne said it was an experience he had been waiting for since the last time he holidayed in Coolangatta with his wife and two children.

"We come here every year. It's a magical spot, Rainbow Bay," he said.

"My wife's been coming here for about 10 years and I've been coming here for six years.

"I took two weeks off from work."

He said they had spent a lot of the first week on the beach.

"And during the second week my wife's family comes," Mr Radbourne said.

Harry, 3, said he liked swimming and playing in the sand.
