Leading fight on obesity

A KINGSCLIFF water sports guru has had enough of obesity plaguing his community and will encourage healthy lifestyle choices at a fundraiser on Saturday, July 9.

Tim Jack Adams, owner of Kingscliff Coastal Acti- vities and Hire will offer kayaking, surfing and stand-up paddle boarding adventures for just a gold coin donation when he opens his new shopfront hire service.

He said all proceeds would go to the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute to help fight obesity and diabetes.

“We have the most amazing outdoor playground here on the Tweed Coast,” Mr Adams said.

“There are so many opportunities for kids and families to get out and get active that we really shouldn't have an obesity problem in our area.

“One of our key goals here is to encourage healthy outdoor acti- vities.”

Destination Tweed CEO Phil Villiers said he was looking forward to helping Mr Adams launch his new business and promote the hire outlet as a new tourist attraction.

“We have fantastic outdoor resources here,” Mr Villiers said.

“Having this hire facility in central Kingscliff will give people easy access to all the equipment they need to get out and take advantage of those facilities.

“We believe it has great potential to attract families and social groups for activity-based day trips and longer stays.”
