League greats support Cox

THE president of Tweed District Men of League, John Strong, said funds raised at the body's sixth annual luncheon at Cudgen Leagues Club this Friday would assist Greg Cox meet medical expenses.

Cox, who starred with Balmain, Cronulla and Wests, before playing and coaching several clubs on the Gold Coast and Tweed, was forced to undergo expensive ankle surgery and now MoL is coming to his assistance.

His former team-mate at Balmain, Neil Pringle, will be the emcee at the luncheon which has Kevin Ryan, Benny Elias, Mat Rogers, Gavin Miller, Joel Parkinson, Mark Occhilupo and four Titans as speakers and special guests.

"Greg is doing it pretty tough and hit bit of a hurdle with medical expenses and it would be great to see many old faces at the luncheon to give him a hand," Mr Strong said.

Tickets cost $100 for which you receive the opportunity to rub shoulders with sporting greats, devour a two-course meal and drink beer, wine and soft drink - fruit and cheese platers are also included.

Tickets can be purchased by phoning John Strong on 0421 971 438; Neil Pringle on 0427 363 438; Tom Cassin on 0407 457 661; or Cudgen Leagues Club on 02 6674 1816.
