League juniors back on the field

JUNIOR rugby league players across the Tweed and Southern Gold Coast were chomping at the bit to lace up the boots for some footy after several weeks' enforced break.

The weather has conspired against the Group 18 junior rugby league competition this year, with a number of games having been cancelled.

When players hit the field on Saturday it had been almost a month since their last game. Junior Sport was there to capture the action between Bilambil Jets and South Tweed Koalas under-11s.

The Daily News was also on hand for the school's surf competition at Kingscliff last week, met some kids representing Polding in Australian rules football, and a Rainbow Bay lifesaver who is the best in the state.
