Lifesavers on for rally crowd

LIFESAVERS will patrol Cudgen Beach this weekend with large crowds expected in the area for Repco Rally Australia.

The beach will be patrolled from 10am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday and is in addition to the patrols at Salt Beach by lifeguards from Australian Lifeguard Services.

Salt Beach will be patrolled from 9am to 5pm on both days.

ALSO on the Repco Rally - Tweed Shire Council has set up a hotline for any event-related issues. The number is 1800 154 515.

TAFE teachers stop work

TAFE teachers on the Tweed took part in a 24 hour stop work meeting yesterday, to pressure the NSW Government to backflip on its plan to increase teacher workloads and reduce teacher numbers in return for a 1.9 per cent wage increase.

Teachers from across the state rallied in Sydney yesterday to fight the changes the NSW Teacher's Federation believes would decrease the quality of education for TAFE students.
