What’s Lisa Wilkinson doing in Los Angeles?
LISA Wilkinson has been spotted out and about in Los Angeles, just days after US media giant CBS was given the official green light to proceed with its takeover of her new employers, Network Ten.
The former Nine host - who sensationally quit the Today show last month amid reports she was demanding pay parity with Karl Stefanovic - is preparing to join The Project in early 2018 on a deal rumoured to be worth more than $2 million.
Meanwhile, after months of planning, CBS' $41 million deal to buy Ten was finally approved by the NSW Supreme Court last Friday.
It's unknown whether her solo trip to the US is work-related or simply a well-deserved break.
On Tuesday, Wilkinson, 57, was seen intently scrolling through her iPhone, as she waited outside her Los Angeles hotel.
Earlier this week, the TV presenter was all smiles while wheeling her baggage through LAX, wearing a casual outfit of jeans and sneakers.
Wilkinson's US getaway comes as Nine CEO Hugh Marks opened up the speculation surrounding her failed contract negotiations, insisting that letting the popular host walk away was not a mistake.
"We got to the point where for the level of work she did for the rights that we were able to access for Lisa, we weren't able to come to a commercial agreement."
He also confirmed her replacement would be announced within a week or two - a choice that's expected to boil down to existing Nine talent including Weekend Today host Deborah Knight or 60 Minutes presenter Allison Langdon.
