Lismore candidates to face voters
FOUR candidates for the seat of Lismore will face the public at a state election forum tonight.
Independent Russell Kilarney, Labor’s Andrew Moy, Susan Stock from the Greens and Nationals MP Thomas George will take questions at the Tweed Shire Council Chambers Civic Centre auditorium in Tumbulgum Rd, Murwillumbah.
Christian Democrats candidate Margaret Kay is unable to attend.
The forum will commence at 7pm and conclude at 8.30pm.
Questions submitted by Tweed Daily News readers will be put to the candidates and questions will be taken by attendees at the forum.
Forum moderator, Tweed Daily News editor Ron Goodman, said he was looking forward to hearing what the candidates had to say to voters.
“Modern election campaigns are heavily stage-managed by party organisations, and this often leaves voters feeling like they don’t know the real person behind the campaign,” Mr Goodman said.
“I hope this candidate forum will be an opportunity for Murwillumbah district voters to see their candidates in an unscripted setting.
“If the forum can help any voters to make up their minds then it will be a great success.”
Voters should be seated and ready for the forum to begin at 7pm.
