Live broadcast from Beach Club

THE stars from the Today show held a live broadcast from Greenmount Beach Club yesterday.

Presenters on the nine network program, Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson, were on hand to entertain the 700-strong group of residents who came to watch.

Manager of the Greenmount Beach Club Paul Taylor said having the show at the club was a great experience.

“There was a lot of people here, we cooked 500 sausages and they were all gone in an hour-and-a-half.

“People were dressed up in costumes and really enjoyed the show. The best costume was a man dressed as an ostrich.

“Most people came to watch the show just after 7am, after the sun had come up.”

Mr Taylor said he was impressed with the down-to-earth nature of the Today show hosts.

“They were very friendly, the broadcast finished at 8am but they stayed for another two hours to sign auto- graphs for people, be in photos and talk with people,” Mr Taylor said.

Plans to have the show broadcast from the Greenmount Beach Club again are already in the works.

“Next year we will celebrate our 100th anniversary, so we are planning to have the show here again then,” Mr Taylor said.

Mr Taylor said The Greenmount Beach Club is no stranger to hosting TV shows.

“We've had The Great Aussie Cook Off before but this is the first time we have had the Today show,” Mr Taylor said.
