Living life her way: The inspiring Tracy Barrell

AS far as inspirational speakers go, OAM recipient and dual Paralympic gold medallist Tracy Barrell is up there with the best of the best.

Next Tuesday, June 25, Ms Barrell will be a guest speaker at a Living Life My Way discussion, held by Blind Citizens Australia, Tweed Valley branch.

The event kicks off at 10:30am at the South Tweed Sports Club and is open to all carers, family and people with a disability.

Ms Barrell will tell her story, a life journey which has seen her achieve so much.

"These events are a fantastic time for everyone to start thinking of their goals and to start living for the now.

"We all tend to get swept up in the everyday life of funding and supports needed, but this is the first step into another side of life; in preparation to the bigger scheme of the NDIS," Ms Barrell said.

The new NDIS scheme is designed to put the decision making back to the person with the disability, with more power to choose what they want to do.

"It's a new era for the people faced with a difference and their support networks, and a time to take control and steer our own ideas," Ms Barrell said.

Get down to the South Tweed Bowls club and hear what Ms Barrell has to say.
