First LNG ship to Gladstone

LNG ship heads into harbour

METHANE Rita Andrea is expected to arrive at the QCLNG wharf by about midday today.

The ship is currently making its way up the harbour, surrounded by tugs.

It is expected to stay at the wharf for the next few days while final commissioning of the LNG delivery mechanism is completed and the ship is filled with its 140,000 cubic metre payload.

This will be the first shipment of liquefied natural gas to leave Curtis Island, the culmination of years of planning and construction of QGC's $20 billion processing plant.
