Logie nod for artistic director

A MURWILLUMBAH television show director has received a Logie nomination for his show Colour in Your Life.

Graeme Stevenson has been a practising artist for more than 30 years and saw an opportunity to get art out of the closet and explore the whole process, not simply the final product.

The show developed as a figurative "library of the minds of artists" profiling different artists for each episode, some from the Northern Rivers area.

With the help of local digital media buffs Julie West, Sophia Stacey and Tanita Stevenson, the concept grew into a viable digital product and will be screened in Australia on free-to-air channel 4ME from March.

Mr Stevenson said the TV Week Logies nomination in the Most Popular Light Entertainment category was completely baffling.

"It's bizarre. It's turned into its own machine on its own path, I couldn't believe it," Mr Stevenson said.

"Nobody has ever developed an art TV show that has gone mainstream.

"It shows if you really believe in it you can do it."

He said the show was designed to build an awareness of right-brained, creative people.

"If we look through the right brain a little more the world will be a better place," Mr Stevenson said.

"It's a great tool for promotion too so if they're savvy, artists will want to get on board."
