Lotto winner is still in disbelief with $500,000 win

A MOUNT Morgan man is a step closer to retirement after winning $500,000.

The man in his 50s picked up Saturday's Gold Lotto results and went home to check them before realising he was a winner.

Mt Morgan News owner Kerrilyn Page said the newsagency was thrilled one of its regulars had picked up a division one win.

"He was a bit shaky when he found out," Kerrilyn said.

She said it was great to see someone from a small, country town pick up a top prize.

Meanwhile, the winner said the purchase was spur-of-the-moment.

"I buy all my lotto entries for the week every Sunday, but when I was in on Saturday, I decided to grab another entry," he said.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he did not yet know what he would do with the money, because it didn't seem real.

The win comes on the back of a $1.6m Keno win last week at CQ Leagues Club.
