Magic with Alice

THE magical world of Alice's Adventures will come to the Tweed next month as Murwillumbah Theatre Company's newest pantomime.

The play will be Indiana Marshall's first performance with the Murwillumbah Theatre Company, and she's landed a key role.

The 13-year-old, who plays Alice, said she was keen to get up on stage for her first pantomime.

"I love being on the stage," Indiana said.

"I'm really excited about it when I'm on stage, getting all the audience involved. I've never done that before."

She said Alice's Adventures would take the audience on a wild ride.

"We've gone and turned Alice in Wonderland into a sort of punk theme," she said.

"It's really funny. It's exciting because (the audience) gets to be involved."

Hastings Point resident Jean Watson has been a theatre-lover since she was eight.

She took part in Wind in the Willows last year - and she's keen to get back on stage.

"It's like a big happy family there," Ms Watson said.

"The children and adults all work together."

Now, she's playing the part of the White Queen and loving it.

"My part's quite mad, as most parts are," she said.

Alice's Adventures will be held at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre on October 17 and November 1 at 7.30pm, October 18 and 25 at 5.30pm and October 19 and 26 and November 2 at 2pm.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for school students and are available online at murwillumbahtheatrecompany.com, from the Murwillumbah Music shop on 6672 5404 or at the door.
