Make Royal prank DJs pay mortgage: suicide note

THE British nurse who died last year after being the victim of a prank by two Australian DJs left a note to her employers saying their action had led to her death.

The London Sunday Times reported that the hand-written note also asks the two Australians to pay her mortgage.

Jacintha Saldanha, a 46-year-old mother of two, died in December after taking a prank phone call from Mel Greig and Michael Christian, who were inquiring about the Duchess of Cambridge's pregnancy.

In her note, Ms Saldanha did not blame her employers at King Edward VIIs Hospital in London for her death.

''Please accept my apologies. I am truly sorry. Thank you for all your support. I hold the Radio Australians Mel Greig and Michael Christian responsible for this act. Please make them pay my mortgage. I am sorry,'' Ms Saldanha reportedly wrote.

Southern Cross Austereo, which owns the Sydney radio station where the two DJs worked, has said it would contribute A$500,000 to a trust fund for Ms Saldanha's family.
