Man accused of killing partner during flood faces trial
THE trial involving a man accused of murdering his partner at Esk at the height of the 2011 flood disaster is now expected to begin on Monday.
Ronald Michael Craig was due to face trial last Wednesday but it was adjourned until Friday because he was hospitalised.
Brisbane Supreme Court heard from a doctor at the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Friday who advised Mr Craig had taken an overdose but was expected to be discharged that day.
Justice David Jackson said, pending any other health concerns, he would begin the trial at 10am on Monday.
Mr Craig is accused of murdering his partner Kylie Hitchen, 35, in her Creek St home at Esk.
Her body was found on January 22, 2011, after nearby residents raised concerns for her welfare.
The court is expected to hear she suffered significant knife wounds to her body.
Mr Craig was arrested in NSW and extradited to Queensland the following week after turning himself in to police at Brunswick Heads.
