Man armed with knives robs Mur'bah supermarket

A MAN has armed himself with knives and robbed a Murwillumbah supermarket, stealing cash and cigarettes.

Police said he entered the Brisbane St supermarket at about 5.55pm on Thursday, December 15 where he threatened a female staff member and demanded money.

The man left the store with cash and cigarettes and was seen running north on Brisbane St.

He was wearing a hooded jacket over a cap and dark sunglasses. There were no reports of injuries.

Police are urging anyone with information that could help to call Crime Stoppers.

The incident followed a spate of criminal activity on the Tweed this week.

On Wednesday a man attempted to rob a woman at an ATM with scissors before he was chased from the scene by two men.

On Tuesday, police reported they had smashed a well-organised group alleged to be behind a spate of thefts around Kingscliff.

This followed an alert issued for Banora Point man Jonathon Bourne, 26, in relation to an outstanding warrant for his arrest on charges including stalking, domestic assault and intimidation.

Police are urging anyone with information that could help to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/

Information provided will be treated in confidence.
