Armed robbers assault man

A MAN was assaulted during an armed robbery at a Robina takeaway store on Sunday night.

Gold Coast detectives were looking for two men who entered the Noodle Box on Robina Town Centre Dr just after 9pm (Qld) and demanded money from the manager at the front counter.

One man produced a long-bladed "boning" knife, while the other went behind the counter and kicked the manager to the ground.

The men stole money from the till and escaped on foot.

Gold Coast CIB Detective Acting Inspector Nev Huth said the 36-year-old Noodle Box manager was cooperative, but it was a fast and aggressive robbery.

"I'm assuming that it was the case perhaps he didn't react as quickly as they wanted," Det Insp Huth said.

"He (manager) is okay and will be returning to work today (Monday)."

Det Insp Huth said the fact it was an aggressive robbery was a concern for police.

"It's quite worrying, quite concerning. He was just taking a stocktake at the end of the day, and he certainly wouldn't expect this sort of thing to happen," he said.

"He actually was concerned that he was going to be further assaulted, but they desisted and ran from the store."

He said police were still to view CCTV footage of the incident.

"Both were wearing hoodies and one was wearing a cap, however there was no apparent attempt to cover their faces," he said.

Police said the man who assaulted the Noodle Box employee was described as being about 25 years old, Caucasian in appearance, 185cm tall with a heavy build and light-brown hair.

He was wearing a grey hooded jumper and a yellow shirt with text emblazoned on it.

Police described the man who produced the knife as being about 25 years old, Caucasian in appearance, 178cm tall with a slim build.

He was wearing a black shirt, black hooded jumper, black jeans and a baseball cap.

They fled on foot with money from the till and were last seen on Robina Parkway heading towards Somerset Dr.

"We found a track with the dogs, however that wasn't successful so I'm assuming a motor vehicle was used after a short escape on foot," Det Insp Huth said.

The Noodle Box manager was taken to Robina Hospital with minor injuries.

Noodle Box Robina did not return calls from The Daily News yesterday.
