Man charged with child pornography offences

A LISMORE man has been arrested and charged with six child pornography offences after his home was searched yesterday.

Detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit searched the 23-year-old man's home as part of their ongoing investigations into the possession, production and dissemination of online child-abuse material.

The man was arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station at the premises while police seized a number of items, including computer equipment and electronic storage devices for forensic examination.

The man was taken to Lismore Police Station and charged with five counts of using a carriage service to access child pornography and one count of possess child-abuse material.

He was granted bail on strict conditions and will appear at Lismore Local Court on September 16.

Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing Child Exploitation Internet Unit investigation into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.
