Man charged with grooming boy at Twba fast food store

DETECTIVES from the Toowoomba Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged a 47-year-old man for alleged offences committed against a boy at a South Toowoomba fast food eatery. 

The man had his matters mentioned briefly in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today where he faced charges including two counts of attempted indecent treatment of a child under the age of 16 and one count each of attempting to procure a child under the age of 16 by intimation and grooming of a child under the age of 16.

Police allege the offences occurred between April 2013 and January 2014.

Detectives are continuing their investigations into these matters and are urging anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Toowoomba man was also charged with 28 counts of indecent treatment of a child under the age of 16, historical offences which are alleged to have occurred in 1994.

Defence solicitor David Burns this morning asked if his client's matters could be adjourned for a day to give him a chance to read the material and interview his client.

He did not apply for his client's bail.

Magistrate Damian Carroll remanded the man in custody for his matters to be again mentioned tomorrow.
