Man charged with malicious wounding after Coffs CBD incident
POLICE have charged a man with malicious wounding after an alleged domestic assault in Coffs Harbour on Wednesday night.
At about 11.45pm on the night in question, a 43-year-old man left the Coffs Hotel allegedly in possession of his partner's keys.
A 31-year-old woman followed the man to her vehicle which was parked on Grafton St near the hotel and after approaching the man an argument ensued.
A man and woman approached the couple and requested that the man hand over the keys to the woman.
Police will allege that the 43-year-old man produced a knife and the second man, 28, suffered a laceration to his right arm. The man and woman both left the area separately.
Security officers from the hotel contacted police who attended a short time later.
The injured man was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics and conveyed to the Coffs Harbour health campus. He has since been discharged.
Police acting on information received attended a service station on the Pacific Hwy and spoke with the 31 year-old woman.
About 2am on Friday police attended a home at Toormina where they arrested the 43-year-old man. He was taken to Coffs Harbour police station and later charged with reckless wounding.
He has been granted bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on July 29.
