Man charged with obstructing police

GOLD Coast police have charged a 23-year-old man over an incident at Molendinar yesterday where a police officer received minor injuries and a police car was damaged.

The incident occurred about 5.40pm (Qld) after police spotted a suspected stolen car in a driveway at Panache St.

The incident is separate from the stolen silver Commodore that police were searching for yesterday morning in the Ashmore area.

In yesterday's incident, an officer was injured after he approached the driver's side window and attempted to remove the keys as the vehicle started reversing out of the driveway.

The officer fell over sustaining minor grazing to his left hand and soreness to his leg.

A police patrol located the vehicle unoccupied in Stanhill Dr at Chevron Island shortly after.

About 11.40pm last night police observed the alleged driver of the vehicle in Burra St at Chevron Island.

The man was detained by police.

The man has been charged with five bail act breaches, one count of possessing a dangerous drug and one count of obstructing police.

He will face Southport Court today.
