Man charged on drugs after chase

A MAN was charged with drug offences after a search and police chase at Nobbys Creek.

Tweed Byron police searched a house on Numinbah Rd about 1.20pm DST Thursday.

On arrival, police saw a 22-year-old man flee the premises on foot.

Police chased the man for about 1km through paddocks, farmland, a creek and a river, before he was taken into custody.

He was allegedly found to be in possession of amphetamines and an amount of cash. Inside the home, police allegedly found further drugs including cannabis, some unknown white powder, half an ecstasy tablet and other drug paraphernalia.

The man was charged with supplying a prohibited drug, as well as two counts of possessing a prohibited drug. Investigations are continuing and further charges are possible.

The man appeared at Tweed Heads Local Court yesterday and was granted conditional bail to re-appear on March 28.
