Gilmore assault mentioned in court

A MAN who allegedly assaulted professional surfer Stephanie Gilmore had his case mentioned in Lismore Local Court this morning.

On December 27 last year, 22-year-old Gilmore was allegedly assaulted by Julius Sterling Guy Fox outside her Tweed Heads home.

Police will allege Mr Fox, 26, hit Ms Gilmore with a metal bar causing injury to her wrist and a wound to her head.

Police facts state Mr Fox had previous mental health issues and was living in bushland around the Tweed Heads area.

Mr Fox did not make an application for bail and was not present at court.

The case was adjourned to appear in Lismore Local Court for mention next month.

The accused is charged with a number of offences, including wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He is alsobeen charged over other allegations relating to separate incidents including a breach of bond, behave in offensive manner in front of school and custody of knife in public place for offences allegedly committed last year.
