Man crashes car while choosing song

IF YOU thought paying $1.99 for a song was bad, try spending $750.

Travis Scott Ritter pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday to one count of failing to drive without due care and attention after he crashed his car earlier this month.

The court heard Ritter was driving on Malchi Nine Mile Rd, Gracemere when he ran off the road and hit a tree.

When police arrived on the scene they noticed no skid marks or indications that Ritter braked.

He told police he was changing the song on his iPod, but dropped it.

Ritter then leant down to pick it up and took his eyes off the road - he looked up right before his car made contact with a tree.

He was fined $750 with a conviction recorded.
