Man critical after Chinderah crash

A GERMAN man is in a critical condition after a car rolled over on the Pacific Hwy at Chinderah on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 5.25pm after a Holden Jackaroo which was travelling south left the road and rolled multiple times.

The 18-year-old female driver and her 21-year-old male passenger, a German national, were trapped in the car.

A female passenger, 18, was able to vacate the vehicle from the front seat.

The two trapped passengers were freed by Tweed District Rescue Squad and all three were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Police said the man was in a critical condition with head and chest injuries.

The driver suffered spinal and internal injuries, while her female passenger escaped with a fractured ankle.

The Ballina Crash Investigation Unit will continue investigations into the incident.
