Man drove car at victim, police say

A MAN narrowly escaped being deliberately run down by a car on Darlington Drive, Banora Point, on Saturday morning, police have alleged.

A 34-year-old Banora Point man was charged with assault, menacing driving and other traffic offences after the incident.

The victim, a 30-year-old man also from Banora Point, was walking on the footpath, when it is alleged the accused approached the victim in his car.

Police said the two men argued before the victim was assaulted.

When the victim attempted to run from the scene, the accused allegedly drove his car at him.

Police believe the two men knew each other.

The victim, who suffered minor injuries, contacted police and the offender was arrested at his home.

The accused was scheduled to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today.
