Man faces sex charges from 80s

UPDATED: Tweed detectives have assisted Sydney police in arresting a man for sex assaults dating back to the 1980s.

Peter Scott, 61, was arrested  at his South Golden Beach home yesterday after a two-year investigation into child sexual assault allegations when the man was a teacher at a Northern Beaches secondary school.

The charges relate to nine offences that are said to have occurred between 1984 and 1985 and involved three male victims.

A 61-year-old South Golden Beach man was arrested by detectives from Northern Beach and Tweed Byron Local Area Commands on Tuesday.

He was charged with six counts including indecent assault, administering intoxicating substance to commit an indictable offence, attempting and supplying a prohibited drug.

The man appeared briefly in Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday where he was granted conditional bail.

He will reappear in Lismore Local Court on March 12.
