Man faces three robbery charges

A MAN has been arrested after he allegedly robbed a Tweed Heads shopping centre store overnight.

A police spokesman said about 5.45pm a 54-year-old man went into a store at Centro Tweed Shopping Centre and demanded money from a store clerk.

The clerk handed over the cash and the man fled the scene on foot.

"Tweed detectives started their investigations and arrested the man at a motel on Minjungbal Dr," he said.

Tweed police were assisted by a Queensland police dog and handler.

The police spokesman said he did not know where the alleged robber was from.

The man has been charged with three counts of robbery with a firearm.

He will appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today.
