Man in court over Condong crop

A 53-YEAR-old man appeared in Byron Bay Court yesterday on charges relating to a large cannabis raid at Condong in January.

A NSW Police spokes- woman said the man was arrested yesterday and that the charges were connected to the discovery of more than 1500 plants at an Eviron Road property on January 16.

The 53-year-old was charged with knowingly taking part in the cultivation of a large commercial quantity of a prohibited plant.

He was refused bail and will appear in Lismore Local Court on April 7.

Barry Ronald Grant, 51, the resident of the Condong property, has been charged with cultivation of a commercial crop of cannabis.

Strike Force Danbury was set up to investigate the discovery of the plants and the murder of of 30-year-old Jethro Matheson, whose body was found in the Border Ranges National Park on January 30.
