Man in hospital after emergency plane landing
UPDATE: The Gold Coast Airport has amended its statement, confirming the aircraft involved was a Diamond DA 42.
INITIAL REPORT:
A MAN is being treated at Tweed Hospital following the emergency landing of a small aircraft at the Gold Coast Airport this morning.
Gold Coast Airport issued a statement confirming the emergency landing of a general aviation aircraft took place at about 10.20am.
The airport's runway and taxiway were closed for a short period of time as a Cesna 210 aircraft made an emergency landing.
A Gold Coast Airport spokesperson said "emergency services and airport safety personnel responded quickly to the scene”.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said they were called to Terminal Dr, Coolangatta at 10.30am following reports of the "small aircraft incident”.
One male patient in his late 30s was conveyed from the airport in a stable condition with minor injuries.
Another male in his 20s suffered no injuries and declined further treatment.
The aircraft has now been cleared and both the runway and taxiway have reopened.
