Light plane crashes on Gold Coast

A SINGLE engine Cessna has crashed at the Gold Coast airport at Bilinga.

It is believed that the pilot, who was the only person on board the Air Gold Coast plane, was on his fourth solo flight.

Witnesses said it appeared the plane may have cartwheeled as the propeller and wing were damaged.

A Gold Coast Airport spokeswoman said the incident had occured during landing but that the pilot had been able to walk from the aircraft unaided. She said he was not taken to hospital.

More details to come as available.
